I realized recently that most of the pregnant women I know are first time mothers. They are planning baby showers, and finding out the gender of their baby. I think about them as mothers, and imagine what their child will look like - and I smile. I can think of 5 soon-to-be mothers, 3 of whom had trouble conceiving. Today, I rejoice for them.
As those who have walked my path will know, a lot of days it's hard to rejoice for those who have achieved what I have not. Too much of the time I lament that it's not me. I don't begrudge them their pregnancy, I just question why it can work out for them, but not for me.
But not today. Today I simply rejoice for them. I can't wait to meet their sweet little ones, or at least see pictures.
And today my tears or not tears of despair, but of joy, mixed with only a little sadness.
